The Ethos Transition Coaching Program, the Ethos answer to Executive Coaching, is exclusively focused on helping senior level executives identify, capture and manage new career opportunities. Clients who work with us at this level are typically not looking for just another job. They are looking for new challenges in which to develop and apply their considerable skills and talents. We focus on what the client is both passionate about and excellent at doing. We identify what it takes to assess each opportunity and position them optimally to stand out from others wanting the same opportunity. Finally, we are prepared to guide a client during the first few months in a new opportunity to maximize the client's initial success.

Our philosophy is unique in that it focuses entirely on the needs and attributes of the client. We guide the client along a path of discovery uncovering issues and insights about the client along the way. We customize our advice to each client situation. We do not do the client's work for them. We help them help themselves. We provide a savvy sounding board not available anywhere else. It is secure and comfortable. It allows the client to articulate career options perhaps not yet shared with anyone else. The point is to allow the client to think outside the box and "test drive" ideas without the risk of embarrassment. After this effort, the client makes a superior decision about what to do based on what they truly want to do.

The process of guiding each client is unique to each client. In the course of weekly coaching conversations, conducted either in person or on the phone, we offer the following ten services to the client:

  1. An exercise in articulating the client's career history and current situation in compelling terms.
  2. An exercise in assessing the real career alternatives, even if it involves a dramatic departure from the recent past.
  3. The application of data mining techniques to the client's existing world of contacts.
  4. Guidelines for intelligent management of the client's reference lists.
  5. Guidelines for effective handling of "gate-keepers" as opportunities arise.
  6. Powerful ways to separate the client from others on a candidate list, while still staying true to who the client is.
  7. Proven techniques for dealing with the organization and timetable of a search process not in the client's control.
  8. Guidelines to maximize the client's flow of information, which in turn leads to the discovery of opportunities.
  9. Keys to maintaining momentum in the transition process while minimizing frustration.
  10. On-going coaching as the client meets critical new contacts during the search for the next opportunity.

The Transition Coaching program allows us to help the client chose a mountain and climb that mountain, but does not include carrying the client up the mountain.
